Restoration of Free Preschool

Dear School Community:

There
are exciting conversations happening in the Kenilworth School District about expanding a system to support effective Pre-K programs. These conversations include the serious consideration of offering half-day preschool to our community’s four-year-olds free of charge for the 2019-2020 school year.  We realize that high-quality pre-schooling is integral to students’ academic success in kindergarten and in later school years.

As part of this consideration, we are asking those who are interested in this opportunity to complete the bottom half of this form by May 31st. You may also express interest via this link. Once we are able to gauge interest, we will reach back out to families with a final determination and more information.

Currently, the district is developing a multi-year plan to eventually serve our entire pre-school community so that additional focus is targeted towards early childhood education. We will be creating a Preschool Expansion Team made up of a variety of school district and community stakeholders to help inform our future expansion efforts.

Next year, I’m excited that our pre-school teachers have selected and will be implementing a research-based curriculum called “Tools of the Mind.” The approach is play-based and language-rich.

Your help is needed. I ask that you share this information with Kenilworth friends and neighbors who may have preschool-aged. This letter is also posted on our website.

Thank you for serving as a district ambassador and helping to share this important and exciting information!

Sincerely,
Kyle C. Arlington
